Frequently Asked Questions

We prefer to schedule our interviews on Tuesdays at 1pm EST, as that helps in scheduling publication dates for the episodes. We will offer specific Tuesday time slot options. If this time is inconvenient, it may be possible to find an alternative time. Please let us know.
Once we have our interview date set and have received your completed Guest Form, Barry and Dave will review your information. We will send you some suggested discussion points or questions to guide our conversation. Our podcast is unscripted and, although we will be talking with you about specific topics, we like to keep it as conversational, relaxed and natural as possible. We also strive to provide lighter moments, even when discussing the most serious topics. There is no need to spend a lot of time prepping for our talk.
The interview/discussion usually takes around an hour, from start to finish. Post-production, our podcasts generally run about 45 minutes.
We will send a Zoom link by e-mail. Your link should arrive the day of the interview if not earlier.
No, we’ll be recording on Zoom, which provides a video feed, but we will just be using the Zoom audio. We prefer that you have your camera on, so we can have a more personal connection with you. Also, with your permission, we might use video segments of our interview for promotional purposes as stated in our Guest Participation Policies.
We prefer that our guests use an external microphone and earbuds/headphones to ensure good sound quality. But that is not possible, it is ok to use the built-in computer microphone.
No, it is to be expected that at times, you may wish to restate what you have said, either due to mispronunciations, or to provide greater clarity. We simply ask you to stop, pause for a few seconds, and say “Let me say that again”. We can correct the flow through the editing process.
Space: Please be in a quiet room. If possible, isolated from any external audio noises or disturbances (e.g., TVs or music outside, sitting next to a window that faces a busy street, etc.) Please silence any notifications or any possible sound intrusions on your computer or phone. Hydrate: Having a glass of water at hand is always a good choice.
We publish Uniquely Human: The Podcast every two weeks, on Fridays around 9am EST. In general, we conduct our interviews about two weeks ahead of the publication date. We are also open to specific requests on release dates, for example, around a book publication date, or another date you wish to target for the episode release. Occasionally, we’ll need to be flexible with the publication date and modify the scheduling, but we’ll always keep you in the loop.
Our podcast is published in all major podcast streaming platforms: Apple Podcast, Google Podcast and Spotify. We also include it on our website to be accessible at any time (www.uniquelyhuman.com). We post announcements on most social media platforms (FB, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram) and encourage you to do so as well on your social media platforms.
We kindly ask that you fill this form at your earliest convenience. If possible, try to complete it no later than 48 hrs before your scheduled interview, that will give us time to review your info. In the form you’ll find some basic questions about yourself, your experience and thoughts. We also ask that you provide us with a bio and a high resolution headshot in order to be incorporated in the promo of the episode (social media, uniquely human webpage and newsletter). Also, please provide us with links to your website and any resources you wish to share with our listeners. At the end of the form you’ll have to give us your consent of the use of your image and recorded interview.
Yes. At the end of the Guest Form we ask that you click on the confirmation box that you have read and consent to our guest policy and use of content
By all means! As soon as the episode is published, we will email you a notification, including a direct link to the episode and the promotional image so you can share it. We encourage you to do so, as well as asking your friends to leave their thoughts, comments, and reviews. Our mission is to expand the conversation on autism and neurodiversity. We can only do it together!
