Do you have a book or podcast club? If so, you may use this discussion guide to facilitate a conversation about this episode.

  1. Bea relates her lifelong love of technology, and even references the beloved “tech moment” of her own childhood: the weekly family trip to Blockbuster Video to select the VHS that her family would watch together. How do you and your family use tech to spend quality time together?
  2. Bea notes the importance of parents and other family members being on the same page with respect to how and when tech may be used, whether it’s in a typical day at home or during family trips. What are some times when tech is allowed, when is it discouraged or not allowed, and how have you and your parenting partner gotten aligned on these expectations?
  3. In Neurodiversity and Technology, Bea proposes a contract between parent and child that clearly states the expectations of the parent and the responsibilities of the child. As someone who abhors ambiguity of expectations, Dave applauds the idea of a contract. What articles, terms, and conditions might you state in your own Electronics Contract with your child?
